4SM have been busy since September.  For our Road Trip USA Topic we were thrilled to share our learning with parents at the end of term.  We really enjoyed teaching our line dancing routine.

We were proud to receive the Class Reading Award for lower school.  We have been working exceptionally hard to reach our AR targets.  Now we have our new reading display lots of children have reached their AR target already.  Only 1 and a half weeks to go, we can all achieve greatness!

Since half term we have been busy with our ‘I am Warrior’ topic.  Roman Day was a great way to kick start our learning.  So far we have been extremely creative and have made Roman mosaics and are currently designing Roman shields.  Also we have created a Christmas Tree post box for our Christmas cards and are desperate to bring our tree decorations home.

During our English lessons we have been inspired by our poetry unit.  The sound collector is a favourite one of ours; sometimes Mrs Munster wishes the sound collector would collect the sounds from our classroom!   The best thing was writing our Gladiator poems using inspiration from the poem ‘If I was a Banana’.  We are looking forward to seeing parents again on the last week of term to share our learning.

Last Monday, our naughty Christmas Elf was delivered directly from the North Pole.  He has been up to all sorts of mischief and the children rush inside the classroom on a morning to investigate his next trick.

Times Table Rock Star is a new app which the school has subscribed to.  The class are very competitive and ask to play it on the i-pads during lunchtime and break-times.  Logins can be found in the front of reading diaries and children should be completing homework activities on TT Rockstar before Christmas instead of My Maths.  My Maths homework will be set after Christmas.

Our Science Investigation was great fun last Thursday.  We investigated the question ‘Did the Romans use toilet paper?’ by conducting research and experiments in the classroom to examine the most effective alternative methods.  We were surprised that moss was extremely absorbent and soaked up the water extremely well.  4SM are Super Scientists.
