On Wednesday 13th March, representatives from the Science Club took part in the Squashed Tomato Challenge at Wollaston School. The children had to create a design for how to move tomatoes down a Nepalese mountain. This was a real life problem which engineers from the group ‘Practical Action’ solved.

Alongside other schools from the area, our 3 teams of children demonstrated their designs to be judged. The children had a fantastic time showing off their Science experiments demonstrating: how they worked collaboratively; problems they encountered; ways they overcame them; what they would improve next time. In between the judging the children were treated to some ‘Science Busking’ where children learnt about forces, sound and electricity using scientific gadgets.

Finally, the judges reached their decision and our team ‘The Kranks’ won the competition. They were thrilled. Well done to Lucas, Oliver and Harry. They win an afternoon at Lab 13 at Irchester School to complete more scientific investigations.

Well done to everyone for taking part, Ciara, Angelica, Sophie, Casey, Jenna, Grace, Millie and Lillie they were all fantastic ambassadors for our school showing good communication skills and behaving impeccably.
