3GO are really enjoying our topic ‘Heroes and Villains’ so far this term.

We started off exploring different villains especially the fictional villain Cruella de Vil! We even had a visit from the evil lady herself and got the chance to ask her questions about her life and love of Dalmatian fur! Using our research and our character visit, we planned and wrote a description about this wicked woman!

This cruel villain links our curriculum topic with our book talk sessions as we are reading different versions of 101 Dalmatians.

We are now researching heroes and finding out about why they became heroes, what inspired them and what they have achieved in their lives. We have looked at some famous heroes from times gone by but will also be thinking about personal and local heroes as this links in with the dreams and aspirations element of this topic.

We will be having a heroes dress up day and celebration on Tuesday 19th December, where parents will be invited to the hall at 2.30 to watch our fantastic finish assembly.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome one and all to 3GO's class page. Our class is made up from 24 Year 3 children who have all been very excited to start their junior school life. And I have to say they have made a fantastic start and have all settled in very well.

Even though it's only early on in the year we have already been a very busy bunch! In our first week back we spent lots of time getting to know each other and learning about school life and the lessons that they will be taught. We also witnessed some very strange goings on when we discovered one morning lots of car parts in our playground! After lots of investigating and interviewing we came to the conclusion that an Iron Man was on the prowl and was the cause of all of the uproar!

We are all enjoying our English and Maths work so far and absolutely LOVING our new curriculum topic of Mighty Metals. Earlier this week, we got to take part in a Robot Workshop. Here we worked as a team to build a lego robot and were thrilled to see them moving around and coming to life! We also went to the playground to explore forces in the different equipment and started to design an Iron Man companion which we will be building later on this term.

Here are some of the thoughts we had about this WOW day...

Olivia 'I loved the Robot Workshop because we got to create unique designs and to use our imaginations and brought our ideas to life!'

Evie 'I liked going to the playground because we got to test out the equipment and our learning was practical rather than just thinking about it!'

Ollie 'I enjoyed the designing a robot part of the day because we were creative and I know we are actually going to make our design!'

I am sure you'll agree that we have had an exciting start to the year and can't wait to learn more about Mighty Metals and all our other new curriculum topics for this year!

Check back soon to see what else we have been up to!
