Welcome one and all to 3GO's class page. Our class is made up from 24 Year 3 children who have all been very excited to start their junior school life. And I have to say they have made a fantastic start and have all settled in very well.

Even though it's only early on in the year we have already been a very busy bunch! In our first week back we spent lots of time getting to know each other and learning about school life and the lessons that they will be taught. We also witnessed some very strange goings on when we discovered one morning lots of car parts in our playground! After lots of investigating and interviewing we came to the conclusion that an Iron Man was on the prowl and was the cause of all of the uproar!

We are all enjoying our English and Maths work so far and absolutely LOVING our new curriculum topic of Mighty Metals. Earlier this week, we got to take part in a Robot Workshop. Here we worked as a team to build a lego robot and were thrilled to see them moving around and coming to life! We also went to the playground to explore forces in the different equipment and started to design an Iron Man companion which we will be building later on this term.

Here are some of the thoughts we had about this WOW day...

Olivia 'I loved the Robot Workshop because we got to create unique designs and to use our imaginations and brought our ideas to life!'

Evie 'I liked going to the playground because we got to test out the equipment and our learning was practical rather than just thinking about it!'

Ollie 'I enjoyed the designing a robot part of the day because we were creative and I know we are actually going to make our design!'

I am sure you'll agree that we have had an exciting start to the year and can't wait to learn more about Mighty Metals and all our other new curriculum topics for this year!

Check back soon to see what else we have been up to!

Class GO are a hardworking bunch. We would describe ourselves as clever, creative and caring! (Miss O likes this because she just loves alliteration!) Our favourite lessons are English, Maths, ICT and French!

In English, we have particularly been enjoying our new scheme for writing. We are learning to write outstanding and creative sentences that will build to create a super final product. We are hoping that some more of our classes work is nominated for our Golden Writing Wall. Well done to Elsie who was selected last term to receive the Golden Pen Award!

We love Maths lessons and are working hard at the moment to learn all of our times tables. This term our topics are fractions, area and perimeter, time and money.

In our ICT lessons, we work with Mrs Manning to learn about computing and coding. Mrs Sharkey teaches our French lessons on a Wednesday afternoon, we are excited about learning to speak in a new language – ask us to try some French out on you!

Our class works at its best when we have fun lessons that really engage us, when we listen well and concentrate and when we try our best. This fits in with our school motto: ‘Be The Best You Can Be.’

So far this year we have loved… Learning about Scotland – the class is interested in learning about other countries and their cultures and traditions. On Scotland day, we learnt some Scottish vocabulary, investigated and created our own tartan and taste tested some delicious Scottish delicacies!

Our History Topics – our trip to Stanwick Lakes to explore the Stone Age enabled us to learn about the past from long ago and see some real life Stone Age artefacts! We have just begun our Romans topic but it has already made an impact – ask us about our drama work when we hot-seated a Roman soldier!

Roald Dahl Day – who doesn’t love dressing up as their favourite Roald Dahl character? We learnt so much about this amazing author; reading his stories, watching clips from the BFG and writing about our dreams. We are looking forward to the rest of the year and all the exciting things planned for us!

Keep watching this space for updates on what we have been getting up to!
