Over the next couple of weeks each class in school will be finding out about a person that has shown great courage in their lifetime. This may be someone that is still alive now or someone from our recent or distant past.

We will then be presenting our courageous people in a gallery in the learning zone with a brief biography of their lives. Each class will also get to present their argument for their elected person both in assembly and on film.

Deciding who is the most courageous person will be down to all of us; pupils, parents and staff will get to cast their vote during the last week of term before Easter. It will be a very interesting topic to discuss and a very interesting choice to make!

Some possible suggestions for people that have shown grand acts of courage:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. standing up for equal rights.
  • Nelson Mandela for fighting against apartheid.
  • Anne Frank and her family living in secret and quiet to hide from the Nazis.
  • Mother Teresa living amongst the poorest of the poor and helping them to thrive, learn and grow.
